Allea Cauilan, who graduated the CSUN Biology Master’s program in 2022, has accepted an offer of a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Life Sciences at LA Mission College. Cauilan originally earned her BS in Microbiology, Cellular, and Molecular Biology at CSUN, and has also completed a second MSc in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics program at University of Maryland Global Campus. Since graduating, she has worked on campus as a part-time Lecturer with Biology, the Department of Childhood and Adolescent Development, and Academic First-Year Experiences.
Cauilan tells Biosphere that she started teaching at community colleges like LAMC in 2019, and she met the chair of her new department while presenting a poster at the 2023 CSUPERB meeting — proof positive that careful preparation, and the connections we make communicating our research, can have longer-term benefits.
