Special seminar: Alvin L. Smith explains how NASA will bring back samples from Mars

Alvin L. Smith, PhD, PMP

The Microbiology Student Association will host Alvin L. Smith for their first special seminar of the semester this Friday, March 5, from noon to 1pm. Dr. Smith is the Manager of the Planetary Protection Center for Excellence at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and is the Planetary Protection Architect for Mars Sample Return — the long-term plan to bring specimens collected by the Perseverance rover back to Earth.

Because CSUN has suspended large in-person meetings to help slow the transmission of the novel coronavirus, this seminar will be presented by videoconference on the Zoom service. You can watch the presentation via this meeting link, with passcode MSA2021. (Following the link may prompt the installation of the Zoom app in order to display video.)
