Alumna’s gift supports CSUN journal of K-12 student science projects

The New Journal of Student Research Abstracts, which reports science projects by K-12 students to encourage broader participation in STEM fields, has received new support from a substantial alumni gift. Mina Alikani, PhD, who completed her Master’s thesis in Biology with Professor Emeritus Steven Oppenheimer, gave $17,000 to support the New Journal, which Oppenheimer founded. "These efforts are critical and invaluable," Alikani wrote of the New Journal and Oppenheimer’s outreach work, "not only to the students whose work is showcased in the Journal but also to society as a whole."

The complete 24-volume run of the New Journal of Student Research Abstracts is available Open Access through the CSUN Scholarworks repository.
