CSUN grad student receives NSF fellowship to study coral reefs’ resilience

Danielle Becker, M.S. student in Dr. Nyssa Silbiger’s lab, has received the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship for her thesis research on coral’s ability to tolerate environmental changes that threaten the health of ocean communities worldwide.

The NSFGRFP is a highly competitive fellowship the comes with three years of student support. Danielle’s research is focused on the joint effects of land based pollution and nutrient enrichment on coral thermal tolerance. Her study will take place in Mo’orea, French Polynesia.
