The Fall 2023 Biology Colloquium Series continues this Friday with a seminar by Tobin Hammer, Assistant Professor of Biology at UC Irvine. Dr. Hammer studies the diversity and ecology of bacteria living in the guts of insects, which help their hosts process dietary nutrients and fight infections. His seminar, given with support from the Microbiology Student Association, will be titled, “Bee bacteria: Ecology, evolution, and implications for conservation”.
Colloquium series seminars are held Fridays at 2pm in Chaparral Hall room 5122. Dr. Hammer will be available after the seminar to meet with students during a “Meet the Speaker” reception, with light refreshments, in Chaparral Hall 5201.
